Peter Philip Miault

Peter Philip Miault, 69, and lifetime resident of Kenora Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 1st 2024 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. He was in the presence of his best friend Kevin Cathcart.

Peter was born on June 7th 1955 in Kenora. He was the only son of Martial Philip Miault and Mary Patricia “Pat” Harper, who both predeceased him. Peter was educated in Kenora and earned his Diploma in the school of hard knocks. After high school, he found employment with Frosted Foods. Peter was dedicated and a model of consistency, working diligently for 35 years without ever missing a day of work. He finally retired in 2014.

On July 29th 1983, Peter married the love of his life Denise Genereux. For 38 years, Peter and Denise’s love story unfolded. Sadly, she passed away on February 22nd 2022. They were truly soulmates, and their marriage was a beautiful reflection of their love.

Curling was a shared love for Peter and Denise, and they enjoyed competing across Canada. Each year, they organized a Fish Fry to benefit the people with disabilities at Hennessy place. Another passion of theirs was traveling as tropical tourists, living the dream, trading winter boots for flip-flops in Hawaii and Mexico.

Peter had a heart of gold, especially when it came to his beloved pets. His rescue dog, Bailey, and cat’s Merv, Barney, and Loki were more than just animals to him. They were his family, his kids. They are missing his presence and loving touch.

Peter was a culinary king, and his kitchen was a shrine to all things culinary. Denise would jokingly call Peter’s kitchen his domain. His specialty was prime rib with Yorkshire pudding, a dish he had mastered with perfection.

Peter was well-known in his community for his homemade ham and garlic sausage “kolbassa”, something else he had mastered with perfection. It was enjoyed by family and friends and by his loyal customers he had for decades.

Peter was always on the go, with a fishing rod in one hand and a crossword puzzle in the other. He had a selfless soul and a big heart and loved helping others out.

As mentioned before, Peter was predeceased by his loving wife, Denise, father Martial Miault in 1974, and his mother Pat Harper in 1963, his maternal grandparents, Peter Harper and Elizabeth Sabiston, paternal grandparents, Philbert Miault and Marguerite Lacombe, Uncle Robert Miault in 2010, Auntie Denise (Miault) Novak, and his big sister Martia (Miault) Jabush both in 2004.

Left to honour his memory, his lifetime friend, Kevin Cathcart, his sisters Kim (Miault) Rauch in Thunder Bay, Michelle (Miault) Proulx and Shannon Miault, both in Winnipeg plus many nieces, nephews and friends.

As per Peter’s wishes, no service will be held.
