The City of Kenora is staying in the transit business, but with a difference.
Gone is the conventional transit bus system.
It’s being replaced, starting today with a micro-transit system called the Wave.
Director of Corporate Services Heather Pihulak says it’s an on-demand system, that has worked in other communities.
“City Administration are excited to support a service that enhances accessibility and reliability for everyone,” says Pihulak.
“This innovative shift from a fixed-route bus to on-demand micro-transit will significantly improve efficiency and meets the needs of all residents who use public transportation.”
Rides will still be $2.50, but you must call ahead to arrange pick-up.
You can use The Wave app or call 1-866-515-6664.
It’s hoped the new micro-transit system will be more reliable and increase ridership, compared to the convectional transit system.
