A police investigation in Fort Hope First Nation has led to the seizure of cash, guns, and suspected illegal drugs.
On Sunday a home in the community was searched, in response to drug activity from that address.
During the search, four suspects were arrested and police seized suspected oxycodone pills, cocaine, two guns, and roughly $18,000 in cash.
A fifth suspect was also taken into custody, but the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service did not release details on their arrest.
As a result, two 18-year-olds, and a 20-year-old from Fort Hope First Nation are facing the following charges:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
A 39-year-old and 38-year-old are also facing the following charges:
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm x 3
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition x 3
One of the 18-year-olds remains in custody with a future court date, while the other accused were released with conditions and future court dates.
