Doug started his journey to the spirit world at the age of 62 years old. Doug passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg on Friday, November 22, 2024.
Doug was born on September 29,1962 in Kenora, Ontario and was raised in Keewatin and spent his adult years in Winnipeg where he met his late wife Tammy and raised their family.
Doug will be remembered for his strength, courage, honesty and most of all, his sense of humour.
Doug will be missed dearly by his family; his close friend Darryl and his many other friends in Winnipeg and most of all by his children; William, Shawnee and Travis and his grandchildren Meadow, Shaelyn, Cory and Chase.
Doug joins in the spirit world his parents; Mary Girard (nee Blackhawk) and Norman Anthony Wawia (Girard); Aunt Louise Blackhawk and brothers Percy, Billy and Slyvester, sister Phyllis, brother-in-law George and his beloved wife Tammy and daughter Samantha.
Doug is Survived by his seven siblings: Norman (Celina); Josephine; Roy; Alvin (Tracy); Norma Jean (Matt); Vera (John) and Beverly (Gerard).
Doug was also a proud and protective uncle to all of his numerous nieces and nephews, too many to name but they will all miss and remember their uncle.
A visitation for Douglas will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Doug will be laid to rest with family at Lake of the Woods Cemetery in Kenora.
