A new poll says a majority of voters not sold on the timing or motivation for the provincial election.
Angus Reid finds almost 80% of voters that responded, feel the election is serving PC leader Doug Ford’s interests rather than the interests of the entire province.
This same sentiment is felt by a majority of PC supporters.
The poll also finds three-in-five Ontarians believe Ford has done well in standing up to U.S. President Donald Trump in recent weeks, but only 26% dealing with Trump and U.S. trade tariffs as a provincial priority.
Health care and the high cost of living rank higher with over 50% of respondents identifying both as the key election issues.
Still, PCs are likely headed toward a majority government win.
The latest opinion polls have Ford holding the support of 43% of decided voters compared to 26% for the Liberals and 19% for the NDP.
The website 338Canada.com notes the strong support for the PCs has not changed since the election campaign was called.
It projects the PCs winning between 83 and 111 seats.
The site forecasts the NDP with 5 to 24 seats and the Liberals earning from one to 19 seats.
The provincial election is on February 27th.
