It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jane Pahpasay. Jane was a resident of Grassy Narrows First Nation. After a long battle with kidney disease, Jane passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025 at the Kenora District Hospital with family by her side.
Jane was a loving and caring person. She loved staying home and taking care of her family especially her grandchildren. She loved visiting with family and sharing funny stories. Jane also loved travelling to casinos to play slots and when she was home she would sit at her favorite spot and play her candy crush game. Jane always made sure her loved ones were well taken care of, she loved them with all her heart.
Jane will be sadly missed by her husband Eddie Keewatin, her children Ryan Pahpasay, Eddie Pahpasay, Anjelica Pahpasay and her grandchildren Cashis Fobister, Cassie Fobister, Phoenix Pahpasay, Pearl Pahpasay, Paradise Pahpasay and her foster child Ashadaya Kejick. Also left to mourn her passing is her sister Lucy Pahpasay, her brothers Thomas Pahpasay, Mervin Pahpasay and Gordon Pahpasay. Her nephews and nieces Isiah Pahpasay, Taryn Maracle, Cori Maracle, Maverick Maracle, Patricia Pahpasay, Laura Pahpasay, Bear Copenace, Sharon Pahpasay, Fawn Copenace, Kari Fobister, Ben Fobister, Brian Fobister, Brent Fobister, Darrian Loon, Sally Kokopenace, Gordenia Pahpasay, Pierre Pahpasay, Elaine Pahpasay and Sammy Skeid, Leo Strong, Sarah Jane Strong, Mary Jane Strong and Molly Strong and Angie Payash. Her other grandchildren Nicholas, Lydia, Tristin, Jillian, Chloe, Linda, River, Akellies, Jesse, Riel, Banaise, Lucas, Elizabeth, Addison, Mason, Josephina, Brooklyn, Amara, Eden, Micah, Jake, Jayde, Beckham, Patience, Tanner, Xairiah and Ender. Also, long time family friends Len and Mary Ogden, Clayton, Derek and Travis Ogden. As well as many other family, in laws and friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
She was predeceased by her father Thomas Payash, mother Mary L. Pahpasay, her brother Isaac Pahpasay, sister Elizabeth Pahpasay, uncles Samual Payash and Wiishkiish, her Aunt Sarah Strong and Harriet Pahpasay, her nephew Leroy Fobister and nieces Caitlyn and Corina Skead, also Cindy Pahpasay, cousin Thomas Strong.
A wake service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Trappers Building, Grassy Narrows, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Trappers Building with burial to follow.
