Ruby Ellena McLeod

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ruby McLeod announces her passing on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Pinecrest Home for the Aged.

Ruby was born on May 18th, 1935 in Arden, Manitoba to Daisy and Cecil Clark. She started out as a hairdresser at the age of 16 in Neepawa, Manitoba and then went on an adventure with her best friend to a summer job at Ball Lake Lodge in 1958. This is where she met the love of her life Allan Alexander McLeod who flew in and overnighted at the Lodge. They were united in marriage on April 4, 1959 in Neepawa, MB. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage together and raised their 4 children.

Ruby will be fondly remembered and forever missed by her sons Darryl (Josie) of Fort Frances, ON; Barry (Patty) of Brandon, MB; Ron (Tuija) of Timmins, ON; Terry (Judith) of Kenora, ON; her grandchildren Derek (Lisa) and Chantel, Brayden (Carlie), Carling (Nathan), and Justin, Tara and Hannah; and her great-grandchildren Jayden and Liam, as well as three brothers and sister-in-law’s and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Allan, her parents Daisy and Cecil, sister Doreen and brother Larry.

You will never find a mother more proud of her four sons. She had her hands full as a stay-at-home mother and was mostly responsible for bundling up the boys on a toboggan many Saturday mornings to take them to hockey at the Keewatin Arena. Her passion was cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid Blue Jays fan, and she spent many hours with Al and family watching baseball and curling, where she would often keep her own scorecards and standings. Her happiest years were living at Beauty Bay where she worked, golfed and entertained family and many friends.

She truly loved having her family around her and watching her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She was famous for her hugs that were the tightest, lingering hugs that made you feel the love pouring out of her.

A private family burial will be held at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery in Kenora, ON.

If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Pinecrest Home for the Aged, 1220 Valley Drive, Kenora, Ontario, P9N 2W7.
