Kenora is ready to launch a new backyard composting program.
Residents will be able to purchase a backyard composter at a subsidized price of $10 plus tax.
There are a total of 100 units available and there is a limit of one unit per household.
They are being sold on a first come first serve basis, with priority being given to Kenora residents.
If units remain there may be an opportunity for residents in unincorporated areas to participate.
Residents that access the program, must commit to providing feedback on their experience using the composter.
The Sustainability Advisory Committee will evaluate the feedback to develop future local composting initiatives.
The program is getting underway on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and residents can register for the program at that time by clicking here.
An open house for the program is being offered on April 5.
During this event, residents will be able to pick up their composter and ask any questions they may have.
