Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 72-year-old with second-degree murder following a death investigation in Kenora.
Officers from the Kenora OPP detachment responded to a call for service at a residence on Heenan Place, where they found a 46-year-old man in medical distress. He was later pronounced dead.
A postmortem examination will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto to determine the cause of death.
Following the investigation, police arrested and charged a 72-year-old with second-degree murder under the Criminal Code. The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora.
The investigation is being led by the OPP North West Crime Unit and the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from forensic identification officers, the Office of the Chief Coroner, and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Police say there is no threat to public safety but that a visible police presence remains in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
