Thunder Bay-Superior North MP, Patty Hadju is happy to see Prime Minister Mark Carney take office.
Hadju was one of the members of parliament selected for the new cabinet taking on her previous role as minister of Indigenous Services and the minister responsible for FedNor.
“It’s just such an honour to serve the country and to serve my riding, but I’ll tell you that I’ve had a really great relationship with Prime Minister Carney so far, so it was a real honour to be chosen to be one of the new, smaller cabinet ministers,” said Hadju. “I think people are feeling very optimistic, I think we are very sure that we have a great alternative to a leader of a party who has nothing but empty three-word slogans and personal insults.”
The minister spoke highly of Carney and highlighted the qualities that make him the ideal candidate to lead Canada.
“We have a seasoned, experienced financial expert who has great ideas for the country, who has great ideas for how we stabilize our economy during this historic threat from the United States, an economic threat like we have never seen before,” added Hadju. “Mr. Carney is well respected in many circles, including international circles, so he is in Europe this week, talking to allies about diversifying Canada’s trade. This is exactly the kind of stable, mature leadership we need at this time.”
There has yet to be an election call, but Hadju is ready when the time comes.
“The reality is that the NDP has been clear in the last number of months that they won’t support this liberal minority government any further. The Conservatives have been calling for an election for at least a couple of years. So I, as a member of parliament and really any liberal member of parliament, need to be ready for an election at any time.”
Liberal leader Mark Carney was officially sworn in as Canada’s 24th prime minister on Friday.
