We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Ronald Christopher Kelly Jr aka Noonie on March 20, 2025.
Ron was born on July 27, 1975 in Kenora, Ontario. His spirit name is Netamibinens and is of the Pizhiw clan (Lynx). His home community is the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation.
Ron is a loving son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and a friend to many, many people in the surrounding Kenora, Rainy River and Thunder Bay Districts. We are very proud of his academic accomplishments. He graduated with Honors from the Pre-Technology program and had many certificates for Water Treatment Operations. Ron was a very talented artist, singer, song-writer, guitar player, and enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
Ron is survived by his mother Geraldine and father Mr. Ron Kelly; Carrie Kelly (Brian Paul) his daughters November Rain Kelly (predeceased) his grandchildren Zena Kelly and Zain Allen; Heather Kelly (Precious Mandamin – his grandson Ezra Christopher Angel Kelly) Sienna Bouchard and siblings, sons Seven Alexander Kelly and Maximum Overdrive Kelly and Brody Allan. His siblings, nieces and nephews (great nieces/nephews) Donovan Kelly (Clarissa – Autumn (Zachary – Jace, Zendaya, Zayde), Laura (Couradge) Jade, Don Jr., Alexander; Bruce Lee Kelly (Kelly and kids – Shawon); Shannon Leigh Kelly (Matthew Copenace – Natalie, Abigail, Jakob and Benny) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins as well as maternal grandparent John Skead. Also those whom he considered his adopted daughters/sons.
Pallbearers will be Jason Kelly, Fredese Skead, Waylon Skead, Eagle Copenace, Chris Skead, Scott Lundy, Matthew Copenace.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wab Kinew, Derek Kelly and Jason Indian.
Wake Service will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2025 at the Nestor Falls Community Hall beginning at 3:00 pm. A Traditional Service to be conducted by Lawrence Henry on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at the Nestor Falls Community Hall with Lawrence Henry at the Nestor Falls Community Hall beginning at 10:00 am. with burial to follow at Onigaming First Nation.
We appreciate all the help from Onigaming Chief & Council and staff, Health, School, Housing, Customary Care, Jordon’s Principle the First Response Team, Ambulance and Police services and to all our friends for their support and love in our time of grief.
