Hospitals across northern Ontario are getting funding from the RBC Foundation.
That includes the Dryden Regional Health Center and Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.
They are both getting $10,000 for training.
In Dryden, the money is being used to provide advance wound care training for its nurses.
According to Dryden Regional Health Centre president and CEO Doreen Armstrong-Ross, skills development is not only important for retention but also has a direct impact on patients.
“The ongoing development of nurses has a direct correlation to improved patient outcomes and experience,” says Armstrong-Ross
“Supporting Advanced Wound Care training for our nurses, RBC is helping to ensure that patients in our community receive timely and effective treatment that reduces the risk of complication and improves their lives.”
In Kenora, they money will hold purchase new intravenous and auscultation training equipment.
Auscultation trainers help nurses refine their ability to identify a wide range of lung and heart sounds, which is especially important during cold and flu season.
