Not a bad start to the season for the KBL Selects U11 and U15 AA baseball teams.
They hosted a pair of teams from Winnipeg on Sunday.
Both split their games.
The U11’s dropped their first game 6-1 despite solid pitching performances from Wahly Carlson and Hudson Spencer, as the bats couldn’t get going.
But they bounced back in game two with a 6-2 win, thanks to strong pitching from Aaron Pitt and Easton Penace.
Jepson Vingerhoeds led the offense with two triples.
The U11 Selects are back in action Sunday as they travel to East St. Paul to take on the Red River Pioneers.
In the U15 games, the first contest was a 15-6 win with Tyler Pochailo pitching three strong innings, great defense from behind the plate from Austin Lacroix and the offence being led by Karsyn Rioch.
The U15’s fortunes didn’t fare as well in the second game with a loss of 6-1.
There were some bright spots with a strong start from Fynn Kelly, nice hitting by Lucas Hill and defensive gems at 2nd base by Tavish Zilinski .
This weekend they are off to Winnipeg to play the Bonitival White Sox.
