Ojibwe Nation of Saugeen evacuated as restrictions are put in place due to Sioux Lookout Fire 3

The Ministry of Natural Resources has put an Implementation Order in effect due to Sioux Lookout Fire 3.

The order was put in place on Wednesday for public safety and to help fire suppression efforts.

Unless authorized by a travel permit issued by the Red Lake Sioux Lookout District office of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), no person shall enter the hatched area identified on the Implementation Order map, which can be found by clicking here, and all persons must immediately evacuate the area including the community of the Ojibwe Nation of Saugeen.

All modes of travel and use of roads, including the portion of Highway 516 East of Houghton Lake, the portion of Highway 599 North of CN rail crossing including Savant Lake and Highway 599 South of McCubbin township as outlined in the hatched area identified on the attached Implementation Order map, is prohibited unless authorized by a travel permit.

All modes of travel and use of forest access roads including 702, East Island Lake, Island Lake, and Pintail Roads are prohibited.

All modes of travel/access onto lakes and waterways within and including Savant, Jutten, Neston, Marchington River system East of and including Kashaweogama lake and all Crown land as outlined in the hatched area identified on the map unless is prohibited authorized by a travel permit issued by the Red Lake Sioux Lookout District of the MNR.
