There were no new forest fires in northwestern Ontario for a second straight day.
Eight fires remain active, with four considered not under control.
Kenora 20 increased slightly in size to 30,999 hectares.
Kenora 14 is now measured at 1,607 hectares.
Firefighters from British Columbia who arrived on Saturday have been assigned to work on both fires.
Fort Frances 4, east of Atikokan, remains at about 3,593 hectares as the cool weather and some precipitation have prevented further spread.
This has allowed the Ministry of Natural Resources to lift an evacuation alert issued last Tuesday.
Residents, cottages and visitors are urged to remain cautious and stay prepared.
Sioux Lookout 3 has also slowed with the weather, remaining at about 1,849 hectares/
Fire crews continue to establish hose-lines in priority areas, with suppression efforts supported by heavy equipment and three helicopters.
The forest fire hazard remains predominantly low across the northwest region, with scattered pockets of moderate hazard through the Kenora and Red Lake fire management sectors.
The MNR says that while cooler temperatures and precipitation have brought some relief, the region’s forests are still extremely dry.
This is keeping a ban on open-burning in place for areas between Raith and the Manitoba border.
