Cool weekend weather has helped lower the forest fire hazard in northwestern Ontario.
It remains low in the eastern half of the region while it sits at mostly moderate in the west, with higher hazard around the Red Lake and Kenora areas.
There was just one new fire reported over the long weekend.
A small blaze near Longbow Lake, east of Kenora, was quickly extinguished.
There are seven active fires in the northwest region, with four identified as not under control.
Kenora 20 has burned almost 31,000 hectares.
Warmer temperatures, low relative humidity and moderate winds on Monday increased its behaviour following a few days of minimal activity.
Kenora 14 is sized at 1,607 hectares.
Firefighting personnel from Ontario and British Columbia are working together on both fires, with crews establishing hose lines, cutting helipads, and protecting structures.
Fort Frances 4, east of Atikokan, remains at approximately 3,593 hectares in size and has not grown in several days.
FireRanger crews have focused attention on finding and extinguishing hotspots.
Sioux Lookout 3 near Savant Lake remains at approximately 1,849 hectares in size.
Crews continue to establish hose lines with suppression efforts supported by heavy equipment.
