Dear Mom
I can’t tell you how much we already miss you. Our hearts are so broken to have to let you go. Even though each of us grieves in our own different ways and we mourn our loss here on earth. There is a glorious side to this profound emptiness we feel. You took your last breath and Jesus welcomed you home. We’ve been so blessed to have all this time we had to share with you. All the great memories we will cherish forever. You were our rock, you made a house a home and for us kids a happy place. You were a stay-at-home mom that raised your children to the best of your ability. While us kids played and the chores were done, you loved to craft. Anything you touched with those precious hands became works of art. The most impeccable embroidery work and designing of your own clothes, crotched blankets, table clothes, quilts and so much more. You created each piece with your whole heart. What a gracious gift on the receiving end. You also loved to bake and we loved to eat it. We always wondered who you were baking for, an army we would say. You would say I surely won’t make as much next Thanksgiving or Christmas, and those holidays came around and throughout the house was all that baking again, we would laugh and eat and enjoy.
You and dad loved to go fishing and spent many years on the Lake of the Woods and mostly English River system, your favourite spots. With many family members and fishing buddies until your bodies became too frail and couldn’t do the tasks no longer. You loved to travel and especially if that trip took you close to family and of course the CASINO! If dad mentioned casino, I could see you dashing to the bedroom and packing suitcases and in the truck and out the driveway in 10 min or less. Oh, but I know you, they were still packed from the last trip.
The milestones you and dad celebrated in your lives, your 25th anniversary, your 50th anniversary, and almost reached your 60th. Always celebrated with lots of family and friends. Those days are far a few now, we will always remember the “GOOD OLE DAYS”. You were certainly a force to be reckoned with. Small but mighty and said what was on your mind. You didn’t back down from anything, even those big boys of yours would walk away wide eyed. We called dad the Jones Rd grizzly but it was momma bear you had to be aware of. No matter what mischief and trouble we got into, she would stand behind us all the way. There were a lot of struggles in your life as well, and losing a son at a very young age too it’s toll on you and dad and us kids. You were our strength and your courage carried on with each daily task life threw at you. We will always remember the love you gave to each of us kids, grown adults now and even though some of the roads lead to difficult places in our lives, you were just a phone call away. Thank you so much mom!
Mom also had another family she so loved and cherished. The Water of Life Church was a place she enjoyed so much to attend. She built friendships there in that little group and her heart grew more and more fond of each member, each and every one of them. She couldn’t wait for me to pick her up from bible study and of course church on Sunday.
I would like to thank Pastor Dave McDonald, his wife Lynda and Joanie Heins for the much needed prayers and support my mother and I and family needed at this difficult time. God bless you all.
“I can hear dad saying ‘where you been Nein?’ and Brian telling her to get in the boat cause dads found a hot spot up the river where the fish are biting, let’s go!”
