The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into two incidents in northwestern Ontario.

One incident occurred in Dryden last month.

The provincial police say officers were called to a report of a disturbance on the Government Street overpass on May 22, around 9:00 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a person in medical distress.

First aid was administered on scene before the individual was taken to Dryden Hospital by the Northwest Emergency Medical Services.

No other information is available at this time.

A second incident being investigated by the SIU took place on Sunday in Onigaming First Nation.

Officers with the Treaty Three Police Service responded to reports of an assault around 6:00 a.m.

Once on scene, an officer discharged a less-lethal device.

The SIU was alerted, triggering the investigation.

The SIU conducts investigations of incidents involving police and civilians that resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
