OSPCA called into help during wildfire evacuations

Some help for communities dealing with wildfires.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention to Cruelty of Animals says it’s helping animal and families displaced by the forest fires.

So far, 11 emergency requests have been made to the OSPCA, and 37,000 pounds of pet food and pet supplies have been sent to the affected communities.

It adds that animal rescue organizations looking to support pets affected by the wildfires should contact the OSPCA, because it’s coordinating support efforts.

The agency says their biggest need right now is helping communities that haven’t been evacuated but are already facing serious challenges due to the wildfires.
