Rosie was born on November 21, 1960 and grew up in lskatewizaagegan First Nation.
She later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where she spent the remainder of her life. Rosie’s passion was playing Bingo, and she would take every opportunity to go to bingo with her family. Rosie has taken many adventures to multiple casinos with her children and sisters. Rosie was an adamant berry picker, every summer she would wait for the blueberries to bloom.
A notable mention is that Rosie was an advocate, and she was not afraid to speak her mind. She had a feisty soul and had a tremendous amount of loyalty to her family. She also had a significant amount of care for her community lskatewizaagegan and had wishes to return, her main wish was to build a house and grow older.
Recently, Rosie took the responsibility of being an elder that would speak and pray for lskatewizaagegan events and meetings. When Rosie accepted this role her children and grandchildren were so proud of her, as she was given the opportunity to travel independently.
The family would also like to acknowledge Rosie’s sister Judy, and niece Chelsea, whom she resided with. Judy and Chelsea were by her side during her battle with cancer, assisting her with daily tasks, helping her get around the house and providing wholesome meals as she stated Judy to be “My chef’. We would like to give a significant amount of thanks to them.
The family would also like to express our appreciation to those that have supported, loved, and showed genuine respect to our Mom Rosie, and our family in her final days and after her passing.
We would also like to thank the Cancer Care Team of Health Sciences Centre for caring for our mother with her battle.
