Jim was born in Kenora, ON, April 13th, 1950. Growing up in Norman, he spent his childhood getting into adventures with his lifelong best friend Gerald McMillan as well as Clem Caron. Jim also spent countless hours with his cousins.

In 1968, he joined the Army as a Communications officer and was stationed in Cornwallis, NS. He then returned home in 1970.

In 1969 he met the love of his life Joyce and were married November 27th, 1971. They spent many memorable years together raising their three daughters and spending many summers on Hay Island, then eventually at the cabin on Little Gordon Lake with their grandchildren and greatgrandchild.

Jim started working at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in 1972 as an attendant, and later on in 1985 becoming a Paramedic. He dedicated his life to helping others through care and safety, while proudly serving his community as a Paramedic and later on as an EMS Manager. In June of 2005, Jim retired from the Kenora District Services Board NorthWest EMS. Even though he retired he decided in 2007 to start a new adventure. Jim had been part of the conception of an Ambulance Service in Naotkamegwanning First Nations Community. This service had officially opened in October of 2007 with Jim as the Manager. After continuing in that position for many years, he then passed the “torch” down to Andrea and retired in July of 2018.

He spent countless hours hunting with family and friends, and always looked forward to the moose hunt down the Aluneau Peninsula. Besides the hunting, his true passion was in gardening and cooking and still managed to solve world problem’s in his sauna after those long days at camp.

Jim had a deep and great faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and was assured his place in paradise.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Friday June 27th, 2025 at Lakeside Baptist Church at 11:00am.
