Ontario has signed two major trade agreements.
One is with British Columbia, and the other is with all three territories.
The agreements cut red tape and costs for businesses to send goods between provinces.
It also lets skilled workers move more freely across the country by recognizing their certifications.
The nation-wide focus on boosting internal trade comes in response to tariff threats from U.S. President Trump.
All of the country’s premiers are meeting in Ontario through Wednesday.
Premier Doug Ford says there has never been a better time to cut this red tape.
“By signing these [agreements] and working together, we’re helping Canada unlock up to $200 billion in economic potential and standing shoulder to shoulder to protect Canadian workers across the country,” said Ford.
Ontario now has agreements with 10 of the 12 provinces and territories, which puts them ahead of any other province.
