The City of Kenora is planning to sell off some vacant land.
Several parcels in the Rideout area of the city are being sold to Infrastructure Ontario.
Council wouldn’t say, but its expected it will be the new location of the OPP detachment.
Robert Bongfeldt is worried it will increase noise in the area, with police cars going by.
“Now, this is going to be a noisy place. Is there going to be any (noise) barriers put up?” Bongfeldt asked council at Thursday night’s special meeting.
Director of Planning and Building for the city, Janis Pochailo says Infrastructure Ontario did request the property be located near other emergency services.
This property is located across from the city’s operations building and just down 14th Street North from the land ambulance base and the Kenora Fire Hall.
She adds the property is 6 acres in size and has access to sewer and water.
Back in the spring, Infrastructure Ontario announced it would be building a new OPP detachment in Kenora.
The cost of the property sale has not been released.
