Less smoke is drifting over Northwestern Ontario from the prairies.

About 100 km north of Kenora, there is a patch of poor quality air causing air quality statements.

And above that a large portion of land faces an air quality warning.

By Monday evening, eight new fires were spotted in the Northwest region.

In total, 53 fire are actively burning, with 11 out of control and eight under control, while two fires are being held at their current size, and officials are keeping their eyes on 32 others.
