Ontario’s NDP leader says the Premier needs to hold the federal government to its commitment to delivering a national pharmacare program.
Marit Stiles has written Doug Ford after comments from the federal Health Minister who refused to commit to funding in all provinces.
No agreement is in place in Ontario for things such as contraceptives and diabetes supply, but agreements have been signed with Manitoba, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island and Yukon.
In her letter, Stiles claims many residents are rationing medication or forgoing treatment because of the cost.
βIn the face of economic uncertainty, we must ensure that workers, families β and all Ontarians β are not stuck paying out-of-pocket for their essential medications,” writes Stiles.
