It is with great sadness that the family of Alda Lorraine Parmeter said a final goodbye to her on July 15, 2025 at Pinecrest District Home for the Aged surrounded by her loving family. Alda was one of 12 siblings. Alda married Robert Arthur Parmeter on May 28,1948 in Kenora Ontario and enjoyed being a loving, caring wife and mother to seven children.

Alda attended Keewatin and Kenora High Schools, working throughout the summers at Sun Valley Lodge, following graduation her working career began at the Kenricia Hotel and throughout she held several other positions until she retired from Zellers.

She leaves many wonderful memories with her children Judy (Ron) Kwamsoos, Pamela (Tom) Martin, Barbara (Glen) Bays, Margaret Parmeter (Kathy Kinger), Richard Parmeter, Daughter-in-law Linda Parmeter and Son-in-law Herbert Allison, also her grandchildren Stephen, Lisa, Clint, Charles, Kelly, Kim, Tammy, Christopher, Heidi, Anthony, Ryan, Jason, Courtney, Nicholas, Daniel, Phillipe, Jenny, Ricki, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters Lilian, Lois and brother David, sister-in-law Olivemae and her dear friend Gwen Holmstrom as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alda was predeceased by her husband Robert Arthur, her son Robert Stefan (Robbie) and daughter Leslie Rae; son-in-law Robert Favreau (Barbara), sisters Doris, Elaine and brothers Norman, Leslie, Allan, Franklin, Alvert, Gilbert, sisters-in-law Arlie, Hilda and Ivy; brothers-in-law Ed Dawson, Bob Marchant and Mervin Reynard.

To Alda, family was what brought her the most happiness, and they grew up in a home filled with love, laughter fun times shared chores discipline when needed, respect for each other and always open to friends and family for gatherings and holiday celebrations. Alda could not be still for very long, she loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking especially for her grandchildren. There was always lots of goodies on hand when they came to visit with her poppycock and vinarterta were two of her most sought-after delicacies. In the quiet restful times, you would find her putting together puzzles or reading Danielle Steel novels. Alda was an active member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church for many years. In her later life, Alda enjoyed traveling with her children and attending various family functions.

A graveside service will be held for the family on August 16, 2025. The family is deeply appreciative and thankful for the exceptional care and support shown to Alda during her stay at Pinecrest. The friendliness of staff and residents was heartwarming.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pinecrest Home for the Aged 1220 Valley Drive Kenora, Ontario P9N 2W7 or online at www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/66379
