With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother Brenda Bye (nee Gabryluk) on August 7, 2025.
She is survived by her children Hayden Bye, Jackson Bye, McKenna Bye; their father Clayton Bye; sisters Linda Wilson (Al), Paula Gabryluk, Nicole Coulombe; cousin Susan Lacroix (Dan); sister in laws Shelley Kardal (Ryan, Becky, Ashley), Stephanie Cholette (Pierre, Vanessa, Julian), Tanya McArthur (Gerry, Tara, Crystal); brother in law Mike Bye (Debbie, Chris); nieces Samantha(Tyler), Cady (Deon, SJ, Sadie), Anna, Amanda, Bailey, Taylor, nephews Chris(Ivana), Zachary (Rhaya, Clairen, Atticus), and Nicholas. Brenda also leaves behind many close friends-including her Begun in ‘61 group- and coworkers.
She was predeceased by her parents Marie (nee Putnick) and William (Bill) Gabryluk; brother Paul Gabryluk; brother in laws Trevor Coulombe and Bryan Kardal; as well as numerous aunties and uncles.
Brenda was born in Kenora, ON. She went to school at Our Lady of the Valley, Lakewood, Beaver Brae and attended hair dressing school in Manitoba. She grew up spending time outdoors and lately loved spending time on her deck with a good cup of coffee or in her garden, which often meant it was dill pickle season. She loved to travel and over the years has visited numerous places in Canada, the US, Mexico, Japan, Spain and the UK. She especially loved to travel to see her children and explore new restaurants and cafes.
Over the years she worked at many different places, always making new friends wherever she was. Most recently she worked as an educational assistant. Brenda loved her community and the students she worked with. She could always be counted on for a friendly smile, compliment or a good grocery store chat. She loved many and was greatly loved in return.
A Celebration of Life for Brenda will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Kenora Curling Club, Kenora, Ontario.
