More outflow reductions at Norman Dam expected next week

Water levels on Lake of the Woods are falling more quickly than projected.

The lake went down 8 centimeters this past week and is expected to go down anywhere from 6 to 10 centimeters over the next seven days.

As a result, Lake of the Woods Control Board is slowly starting to reduce the amount of water going through the Norman Dam.

There was one decrease in outflow yesterday and that will be followed by another on Monday, and then again next Thursday.

If conditions remain dry, the Control Board says similar reduction will be required in week following, slowing the rate of decline in water levels.

Overall, water levels on the Winnipeg River area expect to drop by 52 centimeters over the next week below the dam, 38 centimeters at the Dalles, and 33 centimeters at Minaki.
