Ronald Lentz (Chewy)
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother Ronald on Sunday September 15, 2024.
Chewy was born in Kenora, Ontario on February 25, 1964. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Herbert Lentz and his brother Robert Lentz.
Growing up in Kenora he enjoyed many of the activities a young boy would – hockey, golf and bowling. He continued to bowl in the men’s league and competed at the provincial level, until health conditions pushed him to take up wheelchair curling. Chewy enjoyed the socialized setting of his sports, perhaps more than the sport itself – making friends everywhere he went. He continued to attend the curling club as a spectator for many years.
Chewy loved his morning coffee walks to the curling club cafe and would continue on down the street to McDonalds. He was very well known in the Central community, working his whole career with the Daily Miner & News delivering papers and working inside the paper press room.
His fondest and most talked about memories were at the family summer camp (Gummeson’s Camp) on Mameigwess Lake in Ignace, Ont. From a young child through his adult life, Chew’s smile was the biggest when sitting around the BS table listening to the fish tales of the day from cousins, aunts and uncles. Many family friends were made at this special place.
Survived by, and missing his daily phone calls and jokes already is his brother Ryan Lentz (Tara) and nephews Skylar, Connor and Dawson Lentz, sister in law Sandi Lentz and nephews and nieces Tyera, Tristen, Rocklen and Brandi.
A Celebration of Chewy’s life will be held at Ryan’s home on Railway Street, Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 at 2:00pm.
