Horely looking at city’s communications structure

One of Kenora’s newest employees is hitting the ground running.

Mya Horley has been hired as the city’s senior communications advisor.

She’s been on the job for just over two weeks and says she’s still doing an evaluation of Kenora’s communication needs.

“Improving communications that we have…everything is kind of separated and siloed, so creating a nice, cohesive branding and communications strategy moving forward,” Horley outlined in a recent interview.

“That way it’s easier for the general public to understand and to find information faster and to make that more accessible.”

Horley says she would like to see more communications online and better branding for all the city’s departments.

“Currently I’m still evaluating what’s working and what isn’t working, but definitely going forward and working better with the multiple departments we have.  I’m stationed over here at city hall but (looking) to improve our communications across all the different programs and initiatives the city has.”

Horley becomes the second full time member of the city’s communications department.
