There's only a few days left to get your Mother's Day Draw ticket from the Kenora Kinsmen. Phil Girard is a life member of the club, and he says there are some great prizes.

The top prize is a cheque for $10,000, with a second prize of $1,000 grocery card and $500 gas for third. Proceeds will help community projects, including donations to the hospital, Central Community Club, army cadets, along with bursaries to local high schools.

"I joined Kinsmen when I first came to Kenora, back in 1969," he recalled.

"It just gives me a good feeling to go out and do something where you have a tangible, visible result in the community. Something, hopefully, others in the future can use and make use of," he added.

Over the years, Kinsmen have helped build playgrounds, as well as activities for kids.

"These sorts of things make me feel good about being able to contribute," Girard concluded.
