The Northwestern Health Unit has reported 23 new cases of COVID-19. One new case has been reported in the Dryden / Red Lake region and 22 new cases have been reported in the Kenora region.

Provincewide, 847 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday.

In addition, one case from the Sioux Lookout region and one case from the District of Rainy River region reported earlier this week have both been removed from the health unit data set as they have been assigned to a different health unit.  Also, one case from the Dryden / Red Lake region and one case from the District of Rainy River region have both been updated and are now included in the Kenora region based on updated address information.

Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts have started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for these cases will be contacted directly.

NWHU recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.
