The Northwestern Health Unit has reported 25 confirmed and seven probable cases of COVID-19 across the district, marking the seventh day in a row at least one case has been reported in the region.
Twenty-four confirmed and seven probable cases are located in the Kenora region and one of the new cases is in the District of Rainy River region.
Provincewide, 1,087 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Sunday.
Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts have started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for these cases will be contacted directly.
NWHU recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested.
To date, there have been 431 confirmed and 15 probable cases of COVID-19 reported in the district. 296 of the 446 total cases are listed as resolved, there are currently 139 active cases in the Kenora region, four active cases in each the Dryden / Red Lake and Sioux Lookout region, one in the District of Rainy River and one death.
