A weekend house fire has claimed the lives of three people in Deer Lake First Nation.
The blaze broke out Sunday evening and in addition to the deaths, several other community members were injured, including one with severe injuries which required them to be airlifted for treatment in Thunder Bay.
The remains of the three unidentified people were flown out of the community on Wednesday to be officially identified and for further investigation
Members with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office say they have completed their on-scene portion of the investigation, as it now moves into the next phase to determine the cause, origin and circumstance of the fire.
