Staff with the Northwestern Health Unit have reported another 6 cases of COVID-19 in the area, and follow-up with everyone involved has started.
These include 2 cases in the Kenora region, 1 in the Rainy River District, and 3 in the Sioux Lookout area. As well, a case in Sioux Lookout reported yesterday as temporary and out of the region, will now be included in the health unit’s totals based on updated information.
These cases bring the region’s totals to 263 confirmed cases, with 21 listed as active and 1 death. The active cases include 7 in Dryden, 8 in the Kenora area, 2 in the Rainy River district and 4 in the Sioux Lookout area.
NWHU recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.
Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested, and remain in isolation until your results are known.
