By Ryan Forbes May 10, 2023 | 6:35 AM

Cell phones, television and radio broadcasts will be interrupted across the country Wednesday for a test of Canada’s Alert Ready System.

A sharp alarm tone will sound for 8 seconds followed up by an automated voice indicating the alert is just a test, which will take place at various times across the country.

Residents in New Brunswick will hear the test at 10:55 a.m. ADT.

Listeners in PEI will get the alert at 12:55 p.m. ADT.

Nova Scotia’s test will take place 1:55 p.m. ADT.

Meanwhile Ontario residents will get the test at 12:55 p.m. EDT.

Two provinces, Quebec and Alberta are not taking part in the test.

The system is used to help warn residents of natural disasters, Amber Alerts, and other emergencies.
