All staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital have been offered their first COVID-19 vaccine dose.
President and CEO of the hospital, Ray Racette, was the last staff member to receive his dose, and according to the hospital over 500 staff members have been offered the shot.
It's unclear how many staff, if any, turned down the vaccine. KenoraOnline has reached out to the hospital for comment but hadn't heard back at the time of publishing.
Across the district, 19,859 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have administered as of April 18.
According to the Northwestern Health Unit, 25% of all people in the region have received at least one dose of vaccine. That number jumps to 32% of people when everyone under the age of 18 is filtered out of the data. At this point, COVID-19 vaccines have only been approved for adults in Canada.
Of the population that has received one dose of vaccine, 56% are female and 44% are male.
The Northwestern Health Unit will update vaccine totals every Monday, excluding statutory holidays.
