The first game of the SIJHL’s Bill Salonen Cup finals begins tonight as the Red Lake Miners visit the Kam River Fighting Walleye at 7:30.

Red Lake took out Dryden in the semi-finals, while the Fighting Walleye in their first season in the league swept the Thunder Bay North Stars. The series will wrap up by May 3 at the latest. The winner will go on to the Centennial Cup in Saskatchewan next month.

The Toronto Blue Jays finish off a four-game series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park today. The Jays have won two of three in Boston, including a 6-1 victory Wednesday. Jays outfielder George Springer left that game in the sixth inning after he was hit in the forearm by a pitch. X-rays were negative.

The Toronto Raptors have a day off to figure out how they're going to dig out of a deep hole. The Philadelphia 76ers are a win away from sweeping the Raptors after Joel Embiid nailed a last-second three-pointer in overtime to give the Sixers a 104-101 win last night. The Raptors host Game 4 of the N-B-A playoff series on Saturday.

In the N-H-L tonight, the Pacific Division-leading Calgary Flames host the Dallas Stars. The Flames have won seven of their last 10 games. The Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Tampa Bay Lightning in a possible post-season preview. The Leafs have won four straight. The last-place Habs are home to the Flyers, while the Vancouver Canucks continue an improbable playoff push on the road against the Minnesota Wild.

And the NHL will hold its draft lottery on May 10. It will determine the order of selection for the first 16 picks. Eleven teams will have a chance at winning the top pick. The draft is scheduled to begin July 7 in Montreal.
