The Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints and the Beaver Brae Broncos co-hosted the first badminton action of the season yesterday where 70 teams competed in over 250 games.
It was T.A that took first place in Junior Boys Singles, Junior Girls Doubles, and Senior Mixed Doubles. The Broncos came first in Junior Mixed Doubles, Rainy River earned first in Senior Boys Singles, Senior Girls Doubles as well as Junior and Senior Boys Doubles. It was Red Lake who took first in Junior and Senior Girls Singles.

Tonight is game five of the SIJHL playoff finals. The Red Lake Miners travel to Thunder Bay to see the Kam River Fighting Walleye. Red Lake leads the best-of-seven series 3-1. Kam River was nearly swept, but came back in game four on Tuesday for the win to force game five tonight.
Eric Comrie made 35 saves for his first N-H-L shutout in the Winnipeg Jets' 4-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Winnipeg's Kyle Connor had an empty-net goal and two assists to push his season points total to 92, the most since the franchise moved from Atlanta to Winnipeg in 2011. The Jets will host the Calgary Flames tomorrow.
The Montreal Canadiens snapped a nine-game losing streak, beating the playoff-bound New York Rangers 4-3.
Four Canadian teams are in action in the NHL tonight. Games start with the Senators up against the Panthers at 6, with the Flames taking on the Wild at 7. The Oilers face the Sharks at 8, and the Canucks take on the Kings at 9. The Winnipeg Jets will be up against the Flames tomorrow night.
And after clinching last place in the league last night, Montreal Canadiens have become the first time in NHL history to reach the Stanley Cup Finals one year, before finishing dead last in the following season.
The Toronto Raptors will be looking to force a decisive Game 7 in their first-round playoff series with the Philadelphia 76ers tonight in Game 6 at Scotiabank Arena. The Raptors were down 3-0 to the Sixers, but have nearly come all the way back as they've outplayed Philadelphia in their last two games, outscoring them 213-190 over
that span. No team in N-B-A history has ever won a playoff series after going down 3-0.
The Toronto Blue Jays conclude their series with the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre later today. Alek Manoah gets the start for the Jays who have taken two of the four games against Boston and are going for the series win. Toronto got thumped by the Red Sox yesterday, falling 7-1.
