The Northwestern Health Unit has reported eight new cases of COVID-19 across the district.

One new case is in the Fort Frances Health Hub, five new cases are in the Kenora Health Hub and two new cases are in the Rainy River Health Hub.

There are currently 66 active cases in the region. There are currently 30 active cases in the Kenora area, 15 active cases in the Fort Frances area, 9 active cases in the Emo area, 4 active cases in the Sioux Lookout area, 3 active cases in the Dryden area, 2 active cases in each the Rainy River and Red Lake areas and one active case in the Atikokan area.

Follow-ups with those involved and their contacts has started, and anyone identified as a contact for these cases will be reached directly by public health staff.

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or who has been in contact with a positive case of the virus is asked to immediately self-isolate, get tested and remain in isolation until your test results are known.

Today marks the 66th straight day of COVID-19 cases being announced in the region.
