The Shoal Lake #39 First Nation has a newly refurbished outdoor basketball court.
That’s thanks to funding from Ontario Lottery and Gaming and the NBA.
The work to fix out the court is in part to honor Emily Mandamin.
She the first person from that community to earn a basketball scholarship to a US college.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held last week and included a basketball clinic hosted by the NBA.
The court has a unique mural painted on it by local artist Alicia Kejick.
