The Beaver Brae Broncos played host to the Fort Frances Muskies in court sport action on Tuesday Jan. 31st. The Broncos earned a split with the Muskies winning both volleyball matches but falling short on the basketball court.
In volleyball the junior girls burst out to a two sets to zero lead only to see the Muskies come back and tie things up sending it to a 5th and deciding set. Behind some strong serving our Bronco girls managed to win the 5th set 15-11 and the match 3 sets to 2.
The senior girls had a much easier time of it winning in three straight sets. Strong serving and consistent passing made the difference in the girls victory.
The senior boys basketball team were only down 18-17 at half to the Muskies but couldn’t hold off the Muskies in the second half being outscored 22-9 which lead to a final score of 40-26. David Simpkin lead the Broncos with 10 points.
Our junior boys battled from behind all game against the Muskies and worked hard to finish with a win but came up three points short losing 35-32. High scorer for the Broncos was Russell Guinto with 16 points.
