Police in Dryden have again seized a large number of contraband cigarettes.
Since last December, police have seized an estimated $883,000 worth of contraband cigarettes.
According to Dryden Police Service, the latest seizure happened over the weekend. On Saturday, officers conducted a traffic stop as a result of a violation of the Highway Traffic Act.
Upon investigation, officers had reason to believe the occupants were trafficking contraband tobacco.
A search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of contraband Tobacco, with a street value of $225,000.
As a result of the investigation:
- a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with Adult Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco;
- a 57-year-old male of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with Adult Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco and Adult Failure to Comply with a Release Order, and
- a 20-year-old female of Winnipeg, MB was also charged with Adult Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco.
All accused were released on an Undertaking and will appear in court in Dryden on June 29.
