Kenora's Fire Chief, Warren Brinkman, says its unfortunate but they have enough calls to provide rescue service on the Trans-Canada highway, as well as the city.

"As I said, it's a horrible, horrible way of generating revenue to offset cost of depreciation on the truck and cost of staffing," Brinkman said.

Queens Park pays $410 per hour to help offset the cost of answering calls on Highway 17.

"I haven't done the actuals for 2011, but we would be in the black. In other words, our revenues wouldn't be stripped away by the costs," he said.

The budget debate for the City of Kenora continues.
