City Plans to Launch Harbourfront Ambassadors

The City of Kenora is going to bring back its Harbourfront Ambassadors program.

It was supposed to launch last summer, but was shelved.

Roberta Marsh is the director of Human Resources and says the program offers assistance for anyone working, visiting or shopping downtown.

“The ambassadors really act as on-street concierge service,” Marsh told city council at the open meeting.

“It supports businesses in terms of being able to attend regularly, understand those needs, and communicate back to our city services…supports parking and events.”

Marsh says it’s part of the city’s three-pronged effort to maintain and beautify the Harbourfront, and carry out special events.

“Each of these ambassadors are there to respond to requests and provide courtesy walks, escorting individuals to their destination, including our boat docks.”

Marsh says this is a pilot program and will evolve and change as the program goes on.
