City receives flood funding

The City of Kenora has received funding from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for costs incurred last year for repairing flood damage.

Just over $1.3 million has been granted to the city under the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance Program.

The city says it maintained excellent records for the amount it spent to support its claims.

A lot of the funding went toward raising road beds, fixing gravel roads and municipal docks affected by the high water.

The city says it’s insurance company will also be covering some of their costs, so it hopes to recover the majority of the costs associated with the flooding.
