Clare Katcheconias, MINO-GIIZHIDGOOK (Everlasting Beautiful Day) Ogiishkimanisii doodem of the traditional territory of Northwest Angle #33 in Treaty #3 born on March 11,1954.
After a courageous and fearless battle with cancer on Friday January, 20, 2023 at age 68 with family by her side, Clare Katcheconais passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Clare was predeceased by her parents Kenneth Katcheconias and Maude Katcheconias along with her siblings Percy, Patrick, Joseph, Nancy and Agnes, her grandchildren whom she had forever lasting love for Cassandra, Devina and Lucas Katcheconias.
She is survived by her children Joseph, Sandy, Kenneth, Albert, Aime, Dimitri and Sativa Katcheconias. Clare leaves behind to mourn many nieces and nephews along with an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clare enjoyed her many interests which included picking traditional medicines, berries, wild rice, ice fishing and boating. She enjoyed attending family gatherings and traditional ceremonies. At a young age Clare enjoyed living on the Lake of the Woods with her parents and siblings. Clare enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow up to adults. Those who met Clare knew she was always available to listen and give advice where needed. Her laughter would light up any room and anyone who knew her knew she always had a funny story to tell.

Honorary Pallbearers Dimitri Katcheconias, Mervin Stevens, Christopher Chartrand and a honorable mention for Catherine Jack(her sidekick blueberry hunter).
Wake and services to be held at the Washagamis Bay Band Office on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 beginning at 2:00 pm. A Traditional Funeral ceremony will be conducted by Mide'kiwenzie of Ki'eshgitabaaning and his his helpers on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
