Staff with Balmertown’s Golden Learning Centre and the Northwestern Health Unit are working together to keep their school’s students and staff as safe as possible, after a case of COVID-19 was confirmed.
One classroom has now been closed at the school, and the case is being followed up with by the Northwestern Health Unit. All contacts of the case are being called and will be given instructions by public health staff.
Families who have not been contacted directly by the health unit or by staff with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board can continue to attend school as usual, and aren’t considered to be at any additional risks.
All students are asked to continue to use Ontario’s school screening tool daily before attending school each day. It asks students a number of questions, and will then give a recommendation on whether or not they should attend school that day, based on their symptoms.
The NWHU is continuing to recommend that everyone assume COVID-19 is spreading within your community. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms is asked to self-isolate, get tested and remain in isolation until your test results are known.
