The City of Kenora is once again offering funding for it’s Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
The money goes to businesses or storeowners in the Harbourtown area, Keewatin or the former Abitibi Mill property.
Economic Development Officer for the city Megan Dokuchie says there are different pockets of funding available.
“So they are not all entirely the same, but you can receive funding to support projects such as building façade improvements, landscaping, accessibility improvements as well as affordable housing,” explains Dokuchie.
Dokuchie adds that funding can be used for different projects.
“Applicants are eligible to stack funding, so you can apply for a number of different pieces within the purview of one application. So you could apply for a façade improvement, an accessibility improvement as well as potentially a landscaping project, all within one application.”
Dokuchie says the program has been fully subscribed over the last couple of years, with 125 thousand dollars going to eight businesses in 2023.
The deadline to apply is November 30th.
