The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has announced COVID-19 exposure at King George VI Public School.
The Northwestern Health Unit is working closely with the school board on next steps and all contacts of this case are being called and given instructions by public health.
As a result, one of the classrooms at the school has been closed to further minimize any risk.
The KPDSB is working with the NWHU to make sure all potential risks are minimized. Due to the KPDSB's COVID-19 prevention strategies in place, those staff and students not contacted by public health or by us directly are asked to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and can continue to attend school as usual.
A member of the school community at Beaver Brae Secondary School has also tested positive for COVID-19. The health unit's investigation indicated that there was no exposure to students or staff at Beaver Brae and staff and students at the secondary school can continue to attend class.
Earlier today, the health unit reported three new cases of COVID-19 in the Kenora region.
